Las Vegas

The morning of Friday, January 16th while I was sitting at work, I decided to take Brittany to Las Vegas for her first time.......that night! So off we went! We stopped in St. George Friday night to sleep at my grandparents house, then continued on to Vegas the next morning.

This is a picture of Brittany having a coke.(yes there was real coke in there and yes it was $4, serious) The one on the right is her in front the MGM Grand and some giant lion.

This is me with some pink thing. Look closely, it says its a $170 and then in parenthesis it says (costume only). I'm not sure what else they thought people would be getting? The sign? The store? Some dude inside the costume?

Brittany and the Statue of Liberty at New York New York.....

Me and KG..... And Britt in M&M World.

Britt by the Eifel Tower....I don't remember what hotel this was...

Watching the water show at the Belagio....

We were walking through Ceaser's Palace, and there was a sign hanging above one of the stores that said...."Meet Pete Rose Here Today".......So we did....

And on the way home, we stopped and snapped some pictures with some family. Here is a picture of us with my grandparents in St. George, and one with Britt's brother at college in Cedar. Who is that big lanky piece of art?

And after more than a thousand miles and 14 hours of driving in less than 48 hours.....we were back in Logan on Sunday night.

Nearing the End

.....of 2008. Can you believe it? I'm not Billy Nye but I think time continues to speed up as you get older. As you can see, it's been awhile since the last time I stepped in here, alot has happened, but I'm just gonna review the biggies.

First, we spent Thanksgiving with the other Heaps. It was alot of fun and the food was killer by Mrs. Sue and Brittany.

I turned 24 this month and Britt through me one crazy b-day party. She took me too lunch at Training Table(my favorite) in Layton, then we went to the gateway in SLC and she bought me one of the 3 shirts in Utah that fits my giraffe body. Then she surprised me with Jazz tickets to the game that night, so we walked over to that and watched them get flushed down the toilet by Orlando. Then we slept at the other Heaps that night and they cooked me a big b-day dinner the next day. The other Heaps gave me a space heater for our little house and then we took off back to Logy. When I walked in the door to our house, there was a lovesac in our living room, that wasn't there before. How about that? It was sweet! Isn't she somethin?

The night of the 23rd me and the wife had our own little Christmas because we were planning on heading to SLC for Christmas Eve and Day. So that night we first hit up the movie 7 pounds, which if you havent scene yet and are not currenlty a donor, you will be walking out of the movie volunteering organs. We then delivered some presents we had bought for some less fortunate kids that Brittany knows at the elementary school she works at. There were 2 brothers and we bought them each a nerf gun, and then gave their family some un-used wedding gifts and some hot chocolate! ha It was about 8 at night when we went to drop off the goods. I ran up alone to their apartment to drop them and as I was sneaking up to the door I could here them in their living room. Just as I was ready to set the presents down, their motion light detected my skinnyness and shone like the sun. Frightened, I paniced and dropped one of the presents. It made a large crash. For fear of being discovered, I set the presents in a hurry, knocked twice and turned to run. I had taken not more than 3 steps when I heard the door open! I did not look back, but continued to run like a deer. I hid on the side of their house, while britt waited in the warmth of our car. They are a Latino family, and we could here the 2 boys answer the door and start talking in spanish. Britt said the heard the kids saying "Santa" over and over again. After 3 or 4 minutes, they finally closed the door. So I took off running towardsour car. Having just snowed about a foot that day, it made this running task more difficult than usual. About half way to the car and running near light speed, I hit a patch of ice, lost all control and tumbled to the icy earth. In an attempt to look as un-stupid as possible as the wife watched on, I rolled 2 or 3 times on the ground, popped right back up in full stride, jumped in the car and sped away. It made us feel good, the little that we could do for somebody else this christmas.

The week of Christmas we also took a couple trips to SLC for christmas parties. We spent the night at Britt's parents house Christmas Eve and had a heap of fun with their family. Then christmas day we headed over to the other Heaps and spent the day with them.

We are now back up here in Logan. Yesterday we took our 7 foot sled out for a little ride. After riding down a couple hills, we went to a huge parking lot at USU and tied the sled to the back of our car and pulled each other around! It was sweet. Brittany wouldn't let me pull her any faster than 3 mph.....ha.

And last but not least, too all of you yound married couples.......how early do you go to bed? If I didn't know better, I would say me and the wife are 85 years old. I used to be able to roll until the wee hours of the night, now when 9.....9:30 rolls around i start putting on my jams and fluffing my pillow. We are in bed almost every night by 10:30. If you can relate, bless you.

That's all I've got for now. Until next time, Go Utes this friday and Happy New Year to the world.

Viva La Vida

Well, the results of this past-weeks poll are in, and the majority of you apparently love Egg Nog. Good for you! We also had a couple votes for "I might take a sip", and one vote for "I would rather eat my own sneeze". To that unidentified soul I say, seek for help.

This past week came with some good times. We are nearing the end of our semester, so school and homework are out of control. We are taking a class called "Art Symposium", and are requried to attend cultural events as part of the class. Me and Britt are taking it together, so we attend these different things together. Last Wednesday was the "Canadian Somethin Something Ballet"(don't quite remember the title), so we put on our best shoes and headed to the theater. About 3 minutes in, I realized I had purchased a ticket to prison. I was hoping for the slightest bit of entertainment, but from the opening scene, I knew we were in trouble. So after about an hour of this, me and Brittany both decided it would be best if we took our services elsewhere. So we got up and left.

Thursday night we threw a party for the Sunday school class that we teach. We teach all of the 12-18 year olds in our ward, which is only about 7 kids. Two of the kids decided to remove their shoes AND socks once entering our house. We are still attempting to rid our home of the smelly wave of horribleness that filled every corner of our house as a result. They were instructed immediately to put back on their footwear. Anyway, we ordered some pizza, played some games, and it was Thursday night so we watched “The Office”! If you didn’t get to see last weeks episode, I’m thinking it was the best one of the year so far.

Friday we had a visit from Danny and Bre, some friends from the Salt Lake area. We had a lot of fun! We went out to dinner to a local Mexican place called “CafĂ© Sabor”. We played Balderdash, my absolute favorite game on this blue marble, and watched about 15 minutes of “Baby Mama” before everybody fell asleep.

Then to end the week, we had Jordan and Haley, some friends from up here, over for dinner. We then went with them over to another couples house for a little family night thing that we are starting. We get together with 7 or 8 other young married couples, have a little spiritual thought and then play games and eat sugar. It was great! We played some game called “Mafia”? And in so doing, found out that I am the absolute worst Mafia contestant in our nation.

I would like to end this week’s session by saying, we have had a extremely low 2 comments left on our blog…..that’s a little humbling. For those of you who don’t know, you can click on comments and the bottom of each blog and write us a little something! We’d love to hear from you!

How bout them Utes! Wohoo!

Halloween!!

Halloween was alot of fun! Brittany was Baltimore Ravens tight-end Todd Heap, and I was Indiana native Larry Bird. We went shopping the night before Halloween for some candy to pass out to trick-or-treaters. We decided on the 100-count hersey's mix, hoping this would cover all of the kids we had come to our house. It is now November 3rd and we are stuck with 92 pieces of the 100-count hershey's mix. We had 8 trick-or-treaters......8. So we were a little dissapointed, but still had fun! We made some lil' smokies, chex mix, fruit dip and beef stew and watched the movie "Prestige". And Brittany bought me one of my holiday favorites, Egg Nog! Brittany's not a big fan of it. So this was the inspiration behind this weeks poll on our blog, What do you think about Egg Nog? Take a sec to awnswer the question! And you want something a little spooky for Halloween, check out this link, read the story and check out the picture. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=148&sid=959588 And till next time, take care!

6-Month Recap

Greetings once again from our mountain getaway the locals call "Logan". After looking around, it seems that we are the last married couple in the state of Utah to have a blog. I stumbled upon that fact accidently a couple of months ago. I didnt realize we were so out of the loop!

So here is a little recap of what's been going on with us since we were married in May.

We took our honeymoon to Mexico on a 7-day cruise. The ship was sweet. Once in Mexico, Brittany's skin color blended right in with the local Latino's, while I on the other hand was the whitest chicken in the sea. We rented a dune buggy in Mazatlan and took a tour through the city and the back-lands. We were even priviliged enough to drive 35 mph though a local 4-foot deep sewer river. Awesome!

In July we took a 4-day trip to St. George. We hiked around in Zions Canyon and went out to Sand Hollow lake a couple times. And not to mention, played some balderdash with GMA and GPA Dickerson till we soiled our pants.

In August, we popped over to Park City for a 1-night crazy adventure. We went without having a place to sleep for the night, SO, knowing the our aunt & uncle(Jon and Kim D.) were out of town, we decided to sleep in their backyard on the trampoline. We had been sleeping nicely for about an hour, when around midnight we heard some comotion. Little did we know, there was a probably 20-year-old, single female that was housesitting for them. Upon arriving home late that evening and finding a suspicous car in the driveway(ours), she freaked. She called a couple people, explaining to them that she thought there might be someone in the house and that there was a strange vehicle in the driveway. Next thing we know, all the lights are on in the house, and there are a couple people searching it for the boogeyman(brittany). Anyway, they ended up looking in the backyard and found us there. We explained who we were, etc, etc.....and instead of inviting us in to sleep in OUR own families house.....she called some random neighboor who then invited us to stay the night in their luxury apartment they rent out to out-of-towners. So we did that! It was a stinkin nice place too! Then, the following day we woke up and spent some time on main street in Park City and rode the Alpine Slide.

And just recently we were invited on a 7-day trip to Disneyworld by the other Heaps. It was way fun and we enjoyed watching 27-year-old Jeff talk with the characters. The first thing he would say to them was something like, "Hey Buzz, look it's my sister Brittany!".......everytime. It was hillarious. We had some park hopper pass, so we spent time at 5 different parks, including 2 water parks. One of the water parks had the worlds tallest/fastest waterslide. I couldnt talk the wife into riding it with me.

Speaking of Britt, she recently celebrated her 20th B-DAY, it was out of control!

Now we are just going to school here at USU and working like crazy. Brittany is graduating in Family Consumer Science in the summer of next year. She works at an after school program at a local elementary school, and at Bath and Body Works in the mall. I am graduating in Broadcast Journalism next fall and am currently working at Conservice, which is a utility billing company.

Marriage is sweet! We have alot of fun. We(todd) are currently in a deep depression following the Red Sox loss in the playoffs. Now we just root for the Utes, NY Giants, Packers, and Oprah. If you guys ever want to come and visit us up here in Logy, give us a call!

Love,
